Mama Tee Fridge & Community Pantry

We are so excited to be the host for Mama Tee's 18th community fridge! It's located right next to the shop on Capitol Street. Open 24 hours for you to take food or contribute. From Mama Tee's website:

The Mama-Tee.com Community Fridge is a joint effort led by women of color.  Our goal is to help those who are in need of food.  Free food is a healthier alternative to seeking food out of garbage cans.  Our first community fridge project will provide sustainable food for those in communities of color in the city of Philadelphia.  Our motto is - take some and leave some.  We work with nonprofits, restaurants, grocery stores, and individuals by collecting and sharing food that may otherwise go to waste.  We're encouraging community leaders and local businesses to help us with this effort. READ MORE

We were also able to add a community pantry right next to it thanks to the efforts of Jess from Lumos Yoga and Andy from Fairmount Ace Hardware.

Want to get involved? Here are ways you can help:

Stock the fridge with fresh foods! Fruits and veggies are in high demand. Please no meat or anything expired or opened.

Stock the pantry with shelf stable goods, such as pasta, tomato sauce, soups, beans, chili, fruit pouches for kids, etc.

Don't have time to stock? Order groceries through instacart and have them delivered to the bike shop. Make sure to tip your shopper :)

Contribute to our community pantry fund and we'll do the shopping.
